Basic keyboard commands, shortcuts, and tips

As was mentioned before, when you connect to the System Access Mobile Network, you will be prompted for an account, and pin number. Remember that all you need do to fill out these forms is to arrow, or tab/shift+tab to the place requesting information, and then begin typing. If you want to read the line of information that you have just typed, you can press Modifier+Up arrow, and the entered information on that line will be read back to you. If the form requires a selection to be made from a drop down list of choices, you must first navigate to the place where that list of choices is, and then press alt+down arrow to select your choice. Once you have made your selection, either tap enter to confirm your choice, or simply press tab, and move on to the rest of the form. If you want to move out of the SA Mobile Network proper, then you can easily do that by pressing control+O. You will be prompted for the website of your choice. Just type it in, then tap enter, and the browser will begin reading the requested page of information. Later, if you want to go back to the SA Mobile Network Home, you can just press Alt+home.

If you want to print a page, you can do that by pressing control+P. Important, Control+P will not print within the Media Player.

If you want to follow a link without losing your place on the page, you can open the link in a new window by pressing shift+Enter. Then, to close that window and return to the page you were on, press alt+F4. Similarly, if you want to start a new browser window, you can do that with Control+n.

To look for some text on a web page, press control+F. Type the text you want to find and press enter, and the browser will speak the next line on the page that includes that text. If you have already searched for some text and you want to look for it again, just press control + F, and then press enter. the browser will remember the last thing you searched for, so you will not need to type it again. To read the page from any location, press Modifier+Down arrow. You can open a list of all links on the web page by pressing Modifier+f7. Either arrow to the link that you want to access, or tap the letter that the link starts with, and then tap enter to activate it. If you hear the Email notification sound, you can press alt+M to move to your email box. When you are done checking your mail, just close the Email window by pressing alt+F4.

If a page contains an edit box, you can press f7 to have the SA Mobile Network check your spelling. Note that you can hear the spelling of a word, and or line by holding down the Modifier key, and tapping the up arrow twice quickly. The entire line of text will be read back to you, but instead of simply reading the line, the line will be spelled for you character, by character.

Muting Jaws

If you need to turn off Jaws while using the System Access Mobile network Please perform the following steps.

  1. Turn off System Access by pressing Modifier+F4.
  2. Start Jaws
  3. Open the Run Jaws Manager by pressing JawsKey+F2.
  4. Tap the letter C to jump directly to the Configuration Manager, then tap enter.
  5. Press Control+N to create a new configuration file that will tell Jaws to mute speech.
  6. In the file name edit box type "FBSA", then tap enter.
  7. Now press Alt+S followed by the letter A. This will bring up the Advanced Options dialog box.
  8. Check the Sleep Mode enable check box by tapping space bar
  9. Press the tab key and check the unload synthesizer check box.
  10. Tap enter
  11. Save the changes to the FBSA.jcf configuration file by pressing Control+S.
  12. Close the configuration file by pressing Alt+F4.

Note that the above steps will allow you to keep your Jaws braille support, even while using the System Access Mobile Network Browser.

Muting Window Eyes

If you need to turn off Window Eyes while using the System Access Mobile network Please perform the following steps.

  1. Turn off System Access by pressing Modifier+F4.
  2. Start the System Access Mobile Network Browser.
  3. While the browser is in focus, press Control+Backslash to bring up the Window Eyes Control Panel.
  4. Press Alt+F followed by tapping the letter O to go to the open file submenu.
  5. Tap the letter S to activate the Set file list.
  6. Shift+Tab then press "s" to select the silent.000 file and press enter to open it.
  7. Open the save as dialog box by pressing Alt+F followed by tapping the letter A.
  8. Tap enter to accept the FBSA.000 file name.
  9. Tab to the yes button, then tap the space bar to activate it. This associates the configuration file to the browser.
  10. Press Alt+F4 to close the Window Eyes Control Panel.

Note that the above steps will allow you to keep your Window Eyes braille support, even while using the System Access Mobile Network Browser.
