Copying and Moving Text
You may be asking yourself, "Why would I want to copy, or move text?", and even if I did, what do I do with it once I've captured it?". Before we answer this question for you, let's describe what copying, and moving text is, and what it means for you.
When we say "copy/move text", we're actually talking about taking text that you get on the Internet, and copying that text, or moving that text somewhere else where you can get to it quicker, and more conveniently. Some people call it cutting and pasting or copying and pasting. How about an example? Many website's are specifically designed for sharing Recipes. Some website's have thousands of Recipes, many of which are free! Pretend that you found that perfect Recipe. You've been looking for this Recipe for months, and you finally found it! There's only one problem. The Recipe is on the website, but you want it in your personal Recipe collection on your own PC. the SA Mobile Network will let you copy, or move the Recipe to a location of your choice like the text notes area.
Selecting the Text
First, before you do anything, you must tell the browser what text you want to manipulate. This can be done by holding down one of the shift keys, and while that shift key is down, tapping any of your arrow keys. Each press of an arrow key, will either select, or deselect text. Note, that you can also select an entire page at once by pressing control+A. For instance. Say you had 3 lines:
line1 line2 line3
If you select the first line by pressing shift+down, then you immediately press shift+up, the first line will become deselected. Be careful that you don't deselect your selections. remember to try to always go in one given direction, such as down only, or up only. This will insure that your selected text stays that way.
Copying or Moving the Selected Text
Once the browser knows what text you want to work with you can copy, or move it. Control+C will copy the text, Control+X will move the text, and Control+V will actually put the text where you are, assuming that text can be entered at your current location. Important, when you press control+c, and or Control+X, the text is actually, moved, or copied to a temporary place until you decide where you want the text to appear. When you know, and are exactly at the spot where you want the text to be, press control+V, and the browser will get the text from the temporary location, and put it right where you are. Hint, one place that people place a lot of copied, or moved text is within emails. you Remember that Recipe we finally found? Well if you wanted to email that Recipe to a friend, or relative, all you'd need to do would be to select some text, move, or copy it, then begin a new email, and paste the text with control+V, and presto, the Recipe suddenly appears in your email to Grandma. Then just send the message.
